About Us

Did you know that economic equity and a non-profit Montessori program are compatible? With a focus on East End families, we offer a high quality Montessori preschool through kindergarten education to children ages 16mo-5 years and operate to meet the needs of working parents. Our program is year round, full-day, and with extended care for working families. We serve Greater Fulton Hill and the East End, but also welcome families from the Richmond area.

Fulton Montessori School’s economic equity depends upon regular community support to build and reach financial sustainability. Volunteers, grants, donations, and materials from the community are an important part of our nonprofit organization.

This school is a labor of love and we are truly appreciative of any support you can offer. Whether you choose to volunteer your time and talents, make an in-kind donation, or provide financial support, we are grateful. We are a fully recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit organization

Social Justice and the Montessori Method

Adhering to the Montessori Method, it is a natural habit within our school to practice everyday kindness and to facilitate empathy. FMS leadership believes the seeds of social justice must begin at a young age. These seeds begin with everyday kindness, compassion, and celebrating individual differences. Dr. Maria Montessori herself was a pacifist and a champion for supporting the child’s health and safety. She was nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize for her Montessori Method and lived her life as an activist for the child, women’s rights, and for inclusive education. With such a strong example to follow, FMS is proud to be a part of the local and global Montessori community.
